Canoe Avon is an accredited provider of the new British Canoeing awards that came into effect from the start of 2019. These consist of the 3 Paddle Awards:
for those experiencing their first time on the water
allowing paddlers to build their own decision making skills
giving ownership to the paddler, enabling them to choose where they move next in paddlesport
Please see Taster and Beginner Sessions for availability
Wednesday Training Sessions
There are also a number of Personal Performance Awards that are discipline specific. While we aim to deliver an exciting and varied training programme accommodating a range of paddling disciplines such as flat water, white water, sea and surf kayaking, sprint and canoeing, delivery of the personal awards will be dependant on coaching availability.
Members’ training sessions take place on Wednesday evenings at the clubhouse between April to October, augmented with occasional coach-led trips and sessions on weekends throughout the year. Our Wednesday sessions will generally be focused on supporting members improve skills and aim towards the Paddle Explore Award or discipline specific personal performance awards (subject coaching availability).
Pool sessions are run independently at Paulton Pool, where coaching/lifeguarding staff and kayaks are provided. Sessions cost £5 and take place Thursday evenings during school term times only. Please see https://www.paultonpool.org.uk/timetable/ for details. The cost of pool sessions is included in the beginner session fees and we will provide our own coach to support these.
