Purpose

The purpose of this policy statement is to:

  • protect children, young people and adults at risk, who take part in Paddle Avon activities and events where photographs and videos may be taken;
  • set out the overarching principles that guide our approach to photographs/videos being taken of children, young people and adults at risk during Paddle Avon activities and events;
  • to ensure that Paddle Avon operates in line with our values and within the law when creating, using and sharing images of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

This policy statement applies to all club members, volunteers, race participants and others associated with Paddle Avon.

Risk Assessment for Salford Rowing Centre

Purpose

This risk assessment considers the hazards for Paddle Avon activities based at the Salford Rowing Centre including use of the River Avon downstream of Weston Lock and upstream of Swineford Lock. Club members should take the actions identified in this risk assessment to reduce the risk of injury arising from these hazards. Where a coach or club official needs to take a specific action, the responsible person is identified.

1.1 This policy explains when and why we collect personal information about our members, how we use it and how we keep it secure and your rights in relation to it.

1.2 We may collect, use and store your personal data, as described in this Data Privacy Policy and as described when we collect data from you.

1.3 We reserve the right to amend this Data Privacy Policy from time to time without prior notice. You are advised to check our website (paddleavon.club) or our club noticeboard (in the main club house) regularly for any amendments (such amendments will not apply retrospectively).

Code of conduct

It is the policy of Paddle Avon that all paddlers, volunteers, coaches and parents show respect and understanding for each other and conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of the Club. The aim is for all paddlers to improve performance and have fun.

Everyone involved in the Club should abide by the Club Rules and Policies.

Paddlers

  • Take care of all property belonging to the club or club members
  • Treat other club members with respect at all times, on and off the water; treat other paddlers as you would want to be treated yourself.
  • Control tempers and avoid behaviour which may affect or upset others.
  • Co-operate and listen to your coach or club officials.

Club Officials, Coaches and Volunteers

  • Consider the wellbeing and safety of paddlers before the development of performance.
  • Develop an appropriate working relationship with performers, based on mutual trust and respect.
  • Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.
  • Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.
  • Follow British Canoeing and club guidelines and policies.
  • Hold the appropriate, up-dated qualifications and insurance.
  • Encourage paddlers to value their performance and not just results.
  • Never condone the use of prohibitive substances.

Parents/Guardians

  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
  • Never force your child to take part in sport.
  • Never punish or belittle a child for loosing or making mistakes.
  • Publicly accept official’s judgements.
  • Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy the sport.
  • Use correct and proper language at all times.
  • Set a good example by applauding good performances of all paddlers.

Discipline

If a breach of the provisions or principles of this Code of Conduct occurs or is reasonably suspected to have occurred, Paddle Avon reserves the right to take such action as it deems appropriate, including but not limited to asking the person responsible for the breach to leave the club premises.
